Salvatore Vasta
He earned his bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Catania (Italy) in 2001 and completed his Ph.D. in Materials and Chemical Engineering at the University of Messina (Italy) in 2011. In 2001, he began his career as a fellow researcher at CNR-ITAE in Messina and has since progressed to become a Full Researcher at CNR-ITAE starting in 2011. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in research, project development, and project management within the field of energy technologies, with a particular focus on solar energy, thermally-driven heat pumps, solar cooling, and heat storage systems.
His expertise extends to scientific project coordination, including his role as the scientific coordinator for various projects, Horizon 2020 initiatives and several collaborations with national and international private companies. He has contributed significantly to the scientific community, with authorship of four book chapters and over 140 papers published in scientific journals and conference proceedings.
His contributions to the field have been acknowledged at an international level, as he has served as an expert in multiple tasks within the Solar Heating and Cooling (SHC) and Energy Conservation in Buildings and Community Systems (ECES) programs of the International Energy Agency (IEA).
Furthermore, from 2020 to 2024, he has assumed the role of coordinator for SP3 Thermal Energy Storage within the JP Energy Storage under the European Energy Research Alliance (EERA), being deputy coordinator since June 2024.
