Tour 1: Proteas

When: Friday, 30 August 09AM - 2PM

Tour 1 starts at the EuroSun 2024 conference venue and will take you to the Proteas Solar Research Center.

PROTEAS (Platform for Research Observation and Technological Applications of Solar Energy) is a cutting-edge infrastructure situated on the southern coast of Cyprus, dedicated to research, development, and testing of concentrated solar power (CSP) and solar seawater desalination technologies. It serves as a pivotal hub for advancing CSP systems tailored for island and coastal environments, particularly focusing on small-scale units with substantial storage capacities, crucial for isolated or decentralized power grids. Through collaborative efforts with international partners and rigorous experimentation, PROTEAS aims to spearhead innovative solutions to address the pressing energy and water challenges faced by regions with high solar potential, such as Cyprus and other coastal communities worldwide.

After the visit to Proteas, all attendees will enjoy a delightful traditional Cypriot Mediterranean lunch at Agios Georgios Alamanou Restaurant before concluding the tour back at the conference venue.
